Balanced Literacy/Reading
In addition to the students learning to read their sight words, they also have to know their letter sounds.
Our reading program has now moved to the portion where students are beginning to recognize "rhyming words". We have been gradually moving towards blending letter sounds to read c-v-c words. C-V-C words are words such as: c-a-t, r-a-t, m-a-t, c-a-n, r-a-n, m-a-n. Please practice c-v-c words at home with your student. C-V-C words are word family words (rhyming words).
We will be learning how to put words in alphabetical order in this unit.
The children are beginning to phonetically spell words as they are now writing sentences. Please encourage your student to write simple sentences at home.
Eureka Math
Students are counting, cardinality , and writing numbers 1-20;working with simple addition and subtraction problems, word problems;missing numbers;modeling composing/decomposing numbers 6-8 and number bonds
